Compliance Training for Admissions Agents Applying for a Renewal License
This course is required by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools for Admissions Agents applying for a Renewal License.
Module 1: Understanding the Regulatory Environment - Gain an understanding of the state regulatory environment and how schools can obtain state approval to operate.
- Gain an understanding of the basis for federal regulation of postsecondary schools.
- Develop an understanding of the different types of accrediting agencies and how the accreditation process works.
- Identify the role of accreditation in the approval and oversight of postsecondary institutions.
- Recognize the importance of compliance and integrity and the potential consequences that schools and staff members may face for improper conduct.
Module 2: Common State Regulatory Issues - Recognize the role played by states in establishing academic standards that govern schools and programs.
- Describe and identify the state regulations that pertain to the recruitment of students.
- Gain an understanding of the importance of program expectations and outcomes and why this information must be communicated to students in a clear and accurate manner.
- Identify state regulations governing school solicitation as applied to advertising and marketing.
- Gain an understanding of state regulations that govern catalogs and other external school publications.
Module 3: Federal Financial Aid Regulations - Describe how a school can meet the state authorization and accreditation requirements necessary to participate in federal financial aid programs.
- Identify many of the major federal program integrity requirements.
- Gain an understanding of the federal regulations that govern misrepresentation.
- Gain an understanding of the numerous consumer disclosures that schools must provide and the consequences for failing to accurately disclose information.
- Gain an understanding of loan default rates and how they can impact schools.
Module 4: Miscellaneous Regulatory Topics - Gain an understanding of federal do-not-call regulations and their impact on school activities.
- Identify guidelines, risks, and penalties associated with the Can-Spam regulations.
- Describe practices and policies that can be put into place to ensure competitive integrity.
- Identify how to recognize potential diploma mills and understand the consequences of using false credentials.
